Apply for membership

Membership isn’t open yet, so nobody can apply today. This page shows how applying will work for solicitors and law firms. When solicitor membership opens, the application form will appear on this page.

Before you apply

  • Check that solicitor membership fits your firm. It is for regulated firms that act for survivors of abuse in claims for compensation. See how membership works.
  • Have these ready: the name of the person applying, your firm’s name, a work email address, a phone number and your firm’s website. You can also give your firm’s SRA number, but you don’t have to.

How applying will work

  1. You apply online, on this page. Applying does not create an account.
  2. We check your application by hand. We approve it, ask you questions or decline it. If we decline it, we send you a message.
  3. You set your own password. Once we approve your application, we email you a secure link to set it. We never email passwords.
  4. You complete your listing. You sign in and add your firm’s public details, and at least one region and one type of claim.
  5. We review your listing before it goes live. It then appears in our Legal Directory, with your firm’s own website, phone number and email address, so people contact you directly.

After that, we review any change you make before it goes live, and your last approved listing stays live meanwhile. Each year, you confirm that your listing is still accurate.

The application form

The form will appear on this page when solicitor membership opens. It will ask for:

  • the name of the person applying
  • your firm’s name
  • a work email address
  • a phone number
  • your firm’s website
  • your firm’s SRA number, which is optional

Our common questions about applying explain what an SRA number is, and what happens at each step.

Other kinds of membership

Membership for medical experts, training providers, and therapists and support professionals is not open yet. How they will apply is still being designed.

What we do with your details

For each check, we will note what we checked, the public source we used, the date, and who did the check. We won’t keep copies of members’ documents.

Our privacy page explains how we use the details of professionals who contact us.

Questions about applying? The answers for solicitors cover each step.
